Luis Gil and his family cheered with the ecstatic crowd Friday night when the Marlins clinched the National League wild card spot.
Then Gil, a computer programmer who lives in Miami, spent much of the rest of the weekend tracking down the celebratory Florida Marlins special wild card T-shirts and other memorabilia. Sports stores at various malls didn't yet have them. Gil even drove back to Pro Player Stadium. Too bad, sold out. On Sunday, he managed to find them at the Marlins Miami store, spending about $200 on T-shirts, baseball caps and pins.
