WEXFORD'S Rory McCarthy has come a long way since his first Leinster hurling final appearance in1994.
He was a raw 19-year-old when he pulled on the purple and gold for the first time at senior level but the passing years have moulded him into a gem of a player.
Offaly won the provincial showpiece a decade ago but McCarthy didn't have to wait long for success - he played at right half forward on the team that shot to Leinster and All-Ireland glory in 1996.
