The success of every directionally drilled crossing project depends upon the ability of the contractor to remove drilled particles (cuttings) from the hole. Failure to adequately clean the hole as it is being bored or reamed results in stuck or broken drill strings that can mean the loss of expensive downhole tools, motors and electronics packages. The final installation of the customer's product line call even be at risk, with excessive torque and tension levels causing stoppage of the pull back and potentially, a failed crossing.
