Jul. 3--"Trading Spaces," once the hottest show on cable, may need a makeover of its own.
Viewers have tired of watching neighbors redecorate a room in each other's houses with the help of the show's designers. The designers have budgets of only $1,000 and are known for wacky styles, like decorating walls with hay or CDs.
Viewership for the show fell dramatically in the second quarter. At 9 p.m. on Saturdays, when new episodes air, viewership fell to 1.8 million, down 51 percent from the same period last year.
That's bad news for the Learning Channel, whose growth in recent years has been fueled by the "Trading Spaces" phenomenon. It's also bad ...
