CHICAGO, July 6 /PRNewswire/ -- By unanimous ballot, the delegates at the 140th annual Grand Lodge Convention of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks elected James M. McQuillan as their national president for the 2004-05 year. As McQuillan was escorted to the dais at the front of the Minneapolis Convention Center arena, he was greeted by the spontaneous applause of the 10,000 Elks attending the convention. The confidence that led the Elks to elect McQuillan as Grand Exalted Ruler, the Order's title for its highest office, was again echoed by the delegates.
