FOR most people, the 1960s are synonymous with music, fashion, photography, sex, society, film and art. But not design. Names such as Twiggy, The Beatles, David Hockney, Peter Blake, Julie Christie, David Bailey and Terence Donovan trip lightly off the tongue. The likes of Max Clendinning, Bernard Holdaway, David Bartlett and Ian Ballantine, less so.

These are just a few of the many product designers featured in a 1960s Pop Art sale at London auction house Christie's next week--the first of its kind.
