The full Defense Science Board (DSB) report on the Air Force aerial refueling requirement concludes that the corrosion problem in the aging KC-135 fleet is not as big a problem as some military officials have claimed and that the aging issues can be managed for several more decades.
"The task force did not find evidence that corrosion poses an imminent catastrophic threat to the KC-135 fleet mission readiness," according to a copy of the full report provided to Congress on Friday. "The task force did find evidence of a maintenance regime well poised to deal with corrosion and other aging problems."
