Shanghai. July 7. INTERFAX-CHINA -The Yellow River, once known as China's sorrow, is causing more trouble. With increasingly serious shortages and a growing demand for water, conflicts over the use of the Yellow River resources are the worst in the post-1949 period.
The Yellow River, running across nine provinces, half of which are beset by droughts for most of a year, is the main source of water for residents, farms and industries along its banks.
