HARRISBURG, Pa., July 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania Secretary of Education Vicki Phillips today announced that applications are being accepted for teams of educators and parents to participate in the 2004 Governor's Institute for Parental Involvement. The deadline for application is July 12, 2004.
"Research shows that when parents are involved, children do better in school," said Secretary Phillips. "Children with involved parents not only have higher academic achievement, better attendance and improved behavior in school, but they are also better prepared for life outside of the classroom. That's why this Institute is extremely valuable."
