Jul. 8--Fifteen months after becoming chief executive officer of American Airlines, Gerard Arpey continues to emphasize that change at the world's largest carrier has just begun.
"I used to say in the 1980s that I certainly hoped the industry would stabilize, but I don't think it will," Arpey said. "It's an extraordinarily challenging industry -- dynamic, exciting.
"Once you're in this industry, you don't want to do anything else."
