General Motors executives dropped enough hints last week: The world's largest automaker is not going to regain a 30 percent share of the U.S. market any time soon, if ever.
Forty years ago, GM sold half the cars and trucks in the United States.
And over the course of my journalism career, GM has lost more than 20 points of share.
Some of it can be blamed on now-retired GM execs who didn't take the competition seriously or understand what consumers really want.
