At the age of 45, Eileen Saffran asked herself what she wanted to do with her life.
The licensed social worker had lost both of her parents years before due to cancer, her husband traveled a lot for work, her daughter was in college, and her son had begun to drive. It wasn't quite a case of empty-nest syndrome, but Ms. Saffran decided she was ready for a change in her professional life, something that would enable her to help others and to experience something different every day.
