Jul. 8--Yuba City's new multiplex theater could turn an underserved market into a highly competitive one.
Movie operators remain unfazed by the possibility of as many as 24 screens in Yuba City, which recently reached the 50,000 mark in population.
Cinemark USA said it will go ahead and reconstruct its Movies 8 theater on Whyler Road, despite Tuesday's announcement that Yuba City will have 14 to 15 more screens only a few miles away when the Yuba City Roxy theater is built.
