Between 2001 and 2003, the aluminum sheet manufacturer Alcan Aluminio do Brasil reported a 700% increase in exports from 5,000 m tons to 40,000 m tons with the supply to the US and Asian divisions. The company expects 80,000 m tons in 2004 and also exports to Mexico, Panama and the Middle East, markets where Alcan does not own plants.
