[Regarding the March article "Third-Generation Management Development" by Henry Mintzberg on] an advanced degree program designed to draw on professionals' experience and focus on management concepts instead of the concepts typically taught in an MBA program, this type of program isn't new. It has been around for at least 20 years in many small private colleges in the Midwest and probably across the United States.
I enrolled in such a program in 1987, and graduated in 1990 at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota. While I wholeheartedly agree that this is a very important academic model that companies should ...
