2004 JUL 18 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Women with chest pain who have a normal coronary angiogram can benefit from a test that detects abnormal metabolism in their heart muscle, according to a new study.

The test, called magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS), could identify women with chest pain at high risk for repeat hospitalization, cardiac catheterization and other diagnostic procedures, said B. Delia Johnson, PhD, of the University of Pittsburgh, coauthor of the study, which was published in the June 14, 2004, rapid-access issue of Circulation.
