Jul. 9--Valley View Winery bottled its trademark Rogue Red table wine for the better part of two decades without a great deal of fanfare.
The blend of Syrah and Merlot grapes produced by the winery's 27-acre vineyards, wedged between Ruch and the Applegate River, proved popular with discerning palates both in the Rogue and Willamette valleys.
Then in mid-2002, Valley View president Mark Wisnovsky got wind that another "Rogue Red" was circulating in wine rooms and restaurants. It was a vintage produced west of Eugene by Hinman Vineyards, one of the Chambers family's many holdings that range from a construction company to ...
