Jul. 9--Health officials warned Thursday the West Nile virus outbreak is only going to get worse this summer and encouraged residents to protect themselves against mosquito bites by eliminating breeding areas, keeping their bodies covered as much as possible and using repellent with DEET.
Virus-carrying mosquitoes were recently found near Griffith Park and eight other areas, while infected dead birds have been discovered in virtually every corner of Los Angeles County.
