What a former CBS News foreign correspondent started last year in Westport as an experiment now appears to be gaining in popularity, although it may never become a big money maker.

Gordon F. Joseloff, a former CBS correspondent in Moscow and Tokyo, began online newspaper WestportNow.com, which provides local coverage that he says can't be found elsewhere.

"No one's going to make a whole lot of money off this," he said. "That's not my intent."

But he does hope to increase advertising, which may show an independent local-news Web site can be a viable business. He doesn't pay writers or photographers, except in the form of a WestportNow.com mug or ...
