Jul. 11--COLIBRI ACQUIRES JOHNSTON JEWELRY MANUFACTURER: Fred Levinger, majority owner of The Colibri Group, says the jewelry company was named by its European owners in the 1960s after a small Spanish hummingbird.

The company had only $2 million in sales when he bought it in 1971, but has grown since then to $90 million to $100 million in revenue. And the company is still expanding with the recent acquisition of the machinery and equipment of Curtis Manufacturing/Princess Pride in Johnston.

Levinger, Colibri's president and CEO, said the Johnston plant will remain open and the 90 employees will be retained under Colibri. ...
