Bolivia is a landlocked republic in central South America once considered one of the poorest countries on the continent. Over the past few years, however, Bolivia's economy has been notable for its stability with annual inflation being kept at below 20%, remarkable for South America. Government policy is to attract foreign investment and it is one of the few South American countries where the real gross domestic product continues to grow.
