Among the thousands of attendees at the 2003 International Coatings Expo (ICE) in Philadelphia were 50 students from local high schools. The Philadelphia Society for Coatings Technology, invited the students and their chemistry instructors to take part in an exciting paint-making "scavenger hunt" at ICE on November 14.
Attending as guests of the FSCT, the students were welcomed by FSCT President David Jack, who provided an overview of the Expo and the Federation. The Society's Educational Committee Chair, Neal Shearer, and member Tom Brown followed with a brief review of the paint industry, given from the chemists' perspective.
