The passion for self-improvement made Oprah Winfrey a superstar and keeps the bestseller lists full of books on how to have a healthier body, a bigger bank account and a satisfied soul.

And it's what a couple of Twin Cities entrepreneurs are counting on to lift their new media enterprise above a crowded field of start-ups looking for investors and space on major cable and satellite TV systems.

From an office park in Hopkins, Pat Hopf and Eric Worre are plotting to pull together the fragmented self-help business into a multimedia organization that will include publishing, online education courses and video on demand in hotel rooms. ...
