SAN JOSE, Calif. _ When John and Lesley Solt sold a century-old Victorian on the outskirts of Livermore to John and Virginia Madden last year, they didn't know what it would be like doing business with one of country's best-known sports personalities.
But after spending several hours lounging beneath a pepper tree on the 5.75-acre property and chatting about, well, pretty much anything, they learned "John and his wife were really down to earth," John Solt said. "They'd be embarrassed if you treated him like a celebrity. He was so laid back, you couldn't believe it."
