Thanks in large measure to Greyhound Lines Inc., the state was close to ensuring that people living in communities of 2,500 or more had same-day round-trip service to the nearest larger community.
But that will fall by the wayside when Greyhound pulls out of 35 Oregon communities next month.
"Some routes will be eliminated entirely," said Martin Loring, administrator of the Public Transit Division, part of the Oregon Department of Transportation. "Other routes will continue but the intermediate stops will end."
