DENVER _ When the Federation of Fly Fishers created its master casting instructor program, it might have had Dusty Sprague in mind.
In 1992, with fly fishing beginning another of its boom cycles, some notables in the industry _ Mel Krieger, Joan Wulff, Doug Swisher, Gary Borger and Lefty Kreh, among others _ saw a need: Fly casting was an integral part of good fly fishing, but the level of casting instruction generally was poor.
They proposed a program to improve the quality of instruction, and the FFF agreed to be a primary sponsor. The purpose would be twofold. The program would help an individual become a good fly caster, ...
