TEMPE, Ariz. _ For the first time, a Bowl Championship Series title game lived up to the hype Friday night.
On a cool night in the desert, the second-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes stunned No. 1 Miami, 31-24, in a two-overtime thriller. Cheered on by a heavily pro-Buckeyes crowd of 77,502 in Sun Devil Stadium, the 11{-point underdogs survived a game-tying 40-yard field goal by senior Todd Sievers as regulation time expired.
It was Ohio State's second overtime victory in its last three games.
Few people outside Columbus thought the Buckeyes could hang with mighty Miami.
