OAKLAND, Calif. _ He's held to a higher standard after winning the Cy Young last season. Five of the eight runs he surrendered in three innings of work against the New York Yankees on Saturday were unearned, by the way.
He still ranks among the league leaders in every meaningful statistic except for wins.
Those disclaimers aside, Barry Zito is not the same pitcher he was last year, or even the year before that. He has a losing record after the All-Star break for the first time in his career. He hasn't won since July 3.
