FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. _ The U.S. Coast Guard on Monday repatriated 12 of 19 Cubans who were intercepted at sea last week, further angering some Cuban exiles who questioned whether those on board were given adequate opportunity to plead their cases for political asylum.
Seven others, including a dissident and her son, were sent to the U.S. Naval Base Station at Guantanamo Bay. From there, they likely will be allowed to seek political asylum in another country.
