NEW YORK _ The Commies redux.
Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist, author and playwright Jules Pfeiffer has opened a new play at the Lincoln Center in New York City that would seem to be as far removed from modern times and concerns as black-and-white television and Richard Nixon's "Checkers speech."
It's called "The Bad Friend," and it's all about American communism.
"When I wrote this play, I thought, `I love doing this,'" Pfeiffer said in a backstage interview. "I love getting all this off my chest. But where's the audience? Who's going to be interested in a play about Jewish communists in the 1950s, except 12 ...
