The title intends praise for its subject: Therry is McSweeney's hero, both for sound as well as for debatable reasons. Pains are taken to understand, and nearly excuse, the pioneer priest's difficulties with any authority save his own. Despite this, Therry does deserve admiration for many things, especially his energy, determination and perseverance. His sticking at his haphazard ministry, as his many legacies bear witness, make his priesthood one deserving of emulation. Consider that the ...
