The Eden Prairie City Council has urged Hennepin County to ban smoking in restaurants and all workplaces, a step that could start momentum toward the change throughout the region, county officials said.
Hennepin County Board Chairman Randy Johnson said that if other cities follow Eden Prairie's lead, the county might pass such a smoking ban early this fall, with the ban likely to take effect in early 2005.
Eden Prairie and St. Louis Park have previously considered banning smoking in their bars and restaurants, but both cities concluded that they didn't want to implement bans if neighboring cities didn't ...
