BOSTON _ It's the best game-saving catch Jeff DaVanon never made.
With the Angels protecting a one-run lead in the bottom of the eighth inning at Fenway Park, DaVanon ran down Trot Nixon's drive to the wall in right field, got a glove on it and brought it back, turning a game-tying home run into a triple.
Brendan Donnelly stranded Nixon at third, and Troy Percival retired the side in the ninth as the Angels beat the Boston Red Sox, 6-5, on Friday night.
