FORT WORTH, Texas _Annika Sorenstam's historic journey ended in tears Friday.
As appreciative applause from a huge crowd washed over her, Sorenstam broke down while walking off the 18th green at Colonial Country Club. She then struggled with her composure during a postround media session.
"Oh, I'd rather have a 3-footer," she said gamely.
The emotions of her week at the Bank of America Colonial finally got the best of her. All the preparation, hype, pressure and scrutiny attached to being the first woman in 58 years to compete in a PGA Tour tournament couldn't stay packed inside any longer.
