CHICAGO _ He worked the room, shooting a smile in one direction, a witty one-liner in another.
In the moments after Notre Dame's annual spring football game Saturday, coach Tyrone Willingham took his place at the podium, faced a crowd of reporters and bantered with them as he fielded questions about running backs and the offensive line and, yes, even a possible quarterback controversy.
Willingham is a man who is efficient in his dress and his demeanor, in his words and his ways. And as the queries kept coming, he seemed to be enjoying the give-and-take.
