NEWPORT NEWS, Va. _ Breaking news just in: Roy Williams is still North Carolina's basketball coach.

No, this is not a riff on the old "Saturday Night Live" spoof that proclaimed "General Francisco Franco is still dead." This is serious.

Williams, by all accounts, remained Carolina's coach Tuesday. Based on his introduction Monday night, this is an upset.

Williams' return to his alma mater thrills Tar Heel Nation and adds considerable vinegar to a bland ACC stew. But his departure from Kansas angered Jayhawks players and tore at his fragile emotions.
