Sept. 11 footage must be handled carefully, and woe to the production that fumbles the task. Bad taste can reach new limits.
The standard biopic "Rudy: The Rudy Giuliani Story" probably will be remembered less for James Woods' exuberant performance than for an exploitative use of the twin towers' final moments.
The film, premiering Sunday on the USA Network, mixes re-enactments with news footage, an unsettling blend of the fake and the hallowed. An earlier version featured a person jumping from a tower, but USA wisely cut the scene.
No re-editing, however, can salvage the film's shaky structure. Rudy uses Sept. 11 ...
