James Gordon Gidding, a lawyer and retired railroad official, died July 7 of lung cancer at Casey House Hospice in Rockville. He was 81.
Born in Washington Court House, Ohio, Mr. Gidding graduated from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service in 1943. He then served in World War II as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division, participating in the Battle of the Bulge.
In 1950, he graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he was on the Law Review and was a member of the Raven Society. He later received master's degrees in economics from the Ohio State University and in law from George ...
