In a bit of a shocker, London's The Independent newspaper reported Sunday that Princess Diana was pregnant at the time of her 1997 death in a road accident in Paris.
The newspaper cites an unnamed senior police source in France as quoting from medical reports about Diana that were never made public. "I can tell you that she was pregnant," the source is quoted as saying.
Diana's family, friends, and her butler Paul Burrell all have strenuously denied previous reports that she had been expecting her third child. A spokeswoman for Prince Charles told the New York Post there would be no comment on the newspaper report.
