DALLAS _ There was nobody who earned more time in Mike Keenan's Florida Panthers' doghouse than 20-year-old center Stephen Weiss. The fourth pick in the 2001 draft played tentatively under Keenan's reign and eventually found himself in the minors.
So maybe we should have known something when GM Rick Dudley recalled Weiss just two days before firing Keenan. Under the gentle hand of Dudley, who took over as coach, Weiss has seven goals and five assists in the last 11 games.
"He's a very cerebral kid," Dudley said.
So cerebral that maybe Keenan's head games didn't work on him.
