Contrary to the title of the movie that won Hilary Swank an Oscar, boys really do cry. And grown men can weep, especially while watching "Old Yeller."
Certain movies get male viewers in touch with their feelings, allowing them to shed tears without shedding their machismo. "The Last Samurai," with its emphasis on valor and honor, definitely holds court as a male weepie. Advance reports indicate that "Cold Mountain," with Jude Law searching for Nicole Kidman after the Civil War, could make macho men cry. And, of course, the upcoming "The Alamo" promises to overflow with what once was called manly sentiment.
