Nothing against the Breeders' Cup. Trainer Scott Lake has run with the big horses before and appreciated it.
But in Lake's corner of the racing universe, nothing compares to the Claiming Crown.
Ditto for Bobby Asaro. He had such a good time at Canterbury Park last summer that he recently bought a horse from trainer Steve Asmussen, just so he could come back today and do it all over again. That kind of sentiment is exactly what the Claiming Crown's founders had in mind six years ago, when they conceived the day of big-time racing for small-time thoroughbreds.
