FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. _ A dragon will gnaw at the moon. A lion will growl, or maybe meow.
These are the cosmic phenomena that will grace the firmament this month: A lunar eclipse, thought by ancients to be a dragon consuming the moon, and meteors bursting from the constellation of Leo the Lion.
In the second, and last, lunar eclipse of the year, a crimson tide will wash across the face of the full moon as it rises Saturday evening over South Florida. The annual Leonid Meteor Shower will follow in about a week and a half _ but the same moon, now waning, may obscure those celestial fireworks.
