DALLAS _ Southwest Airlines Co.'s flight attendants took to the streets Wednesday to make the point that they can't live on peanuts alone.
In Baltimore, Chicago and Oakland, Calif., flight attendants passed out boxed lunches to their co-workers to protest a management proposal that would lengthen their workday without adding breaks or mealtimes.
"When our flight attendants are on the ground they're still working. We clean the aircraft for the airline," said Thom McDaniel, president of Transport Workers Union Local 556. "We have the quickest turnaround in the industry, but that does eliminate the break. Other airlines do ...
