Forgive the overworked sports metaphor, but the battle over the landmark gender-equity law known as Title IX has turned into a real donnybrook. Members of a commission created by Education Secretary Rod Paige recently spent two days haggling over recommendations for revising the law, and came away with ... what?
That's not very clear. Even many of the commission members were unsure about the potential impact of what they had recommended.
The big question: Would the proposed changes open the doors wider for women athletes on campus, or slam them shut?
