Jul. 20--After two years without a sales tax holiday, which exempts dozens of items from the state's 6 percent cut, South Florida retailers again are stocking extra inventory and hoping shoppers will crowd into stores to take advantage of the nine-day suspension.
Beginning Saturday at 12:01 a.m. and ending Aug. 1 at midnight, the holiday means that shoppers will not have to pay either the state's tax bite or any additional county tax on most clothing, shoes and some accessories costing $50 or less; and school supplies priced at $10 or less.
