Nov. 20--DEFAULT A RISK FACTOR FOR HEALTH-CARE FIRMS TURNED LENDERS: A lending arm Baxter International Inc. created two years ago to offer financial help to health-care businesses has taken one of its earliest borrowers to court over an unpaid loan.

The Deerfield-based medical products giant's Baxter Capital Corp. sued Cerritos Dialysis Center earlier this month in U.S. District Court in Chicago, seeking more than $250,000 in principal and interest from the center operated in Cerritos, Calif., by Dr. Gadsalli Ravikumar. The entire loan was nearly $1 million, though only the $250,000 remains unpaid, Baxter said.
