Nov. 12--Domestic demand for stainless steel will likely remain high next year, driven by continued economic growth, according to Songwoot Graipasapong, an adviser to the Thai Stainless Steel Development Association.
Demand is projected to grow by 1020 percent next year. Total consumption of the material is projected at 134,000 tonnes this year, an 18 percent rise from last year.
The domestic market for stainless steel, valued at 12-15 billion baht, accounts for 15 percent of the total steel market.
