President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo announced yesterday the release of Angelo de la Cruz by his Iraqi abductors and assured his family and the whole nation that he will be back in the country soon.

The President made the announcement after she spoke with De la Cruz over the phone from Baghdad, Iraq for about five minutes before he was flown to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) where he is scheduled to undergo a medical check-up before returning to the country.
