Dec. 7--Santa may still be around at companies this year, but he's leaner and meaner. Although office Christmas parties are still popular, bonuses seem to be disappearing across the country.
But some small firms keep the holiday bonus tradition alive.
For example, Roman Peshoff, in downtown Toledo, gives its 24 workers a specially designed tree ornament and $100, president Martha Vetter holds a party for the staff at her home, and the marketing and public relations firm gives out profit-sharing bonuses.
"It's fun to do," Ms. Vetter said. "I love doing it for them."
